A lavish photo celebration of the great saxophonist’s career featuring black and white and coloured photographs by noted jazz photographer, John Abbot, shot over nearly twenty years. The text is by long-time jazz journalist, Bob Blumenthal, who uses as chapter headings the song titles of Rollins’ iconic album, Saxophone Colossus, "employ[ing] the structure of that classic album to give shape to what I hear, and John [Abbot] sees in all of Sonny Rollins music". Laid in is a Barnes & Noble Events sheet which shows the book signing and author's event for the book on September 14, 2010, with Sonny in attendance. A lovely book, beautifully printed and a fitting tribute to a great musician. About fine in black laminate boards, with slight ding to front bottom corners; in a like dust jacket, now in mylar sleeve. Sonny Rollins book signatures are uncommon. J2405
