John Lee Hooker, Original Concert Poster, First Printing, Tuesday to Saturday, Sept 29 - Oct 3, 1970, The Matrix, San Francisco, artist, M.T. Behrens with his imprint to bottom right, date to bottom left. This is a scarce poster for the great bluesman's appearance at The Matrix, in the later days of the legendary San Francisco music club, co-founded by Marty Balin of the Jefferson Airplane, who appeared as the club's "house band" on its opening in August, 1965. The poster design, which includes a rather unsettling photograph at its center, is by Mark Twain Behrens, who created nearly all the poster art for the club over its seven year existence. Printed to off white uncoated index stock, 17" by 11", shallow diagonal margin crease to top right corner, slight crease to top left margin, mild handling wear, else, near fine, clean, unmarked, has not been hung. Very uncommon. J2269
