Macmillan, New York, 1936, First Printing. A pioneering blues study, the first comprehensive book length account of the great folk and blues singer's life and work. Leadbelly's story is told primarily in his words, with musical and lyric transcriptions of his songs and commentaries by the authors. About near fine in the original tan cloth, with bright red titles to top cover and spine, grey top edge, usual tanning to end papers and page edges. The dust jacket, with original price of $3.50 to front flap, is about very good with chipping and light paper loss to the extremities, spine is lightly sunned, rubbing to spine and wrap folds, now in mylar sleeve. Very uncommon in the first edition and scarce in the original dust jacket. J2251
