Glossy, colour promotional photograph, 8" by 12", boldly SIGNED by the great saxophonist and composer, Ornette Coleman. A wonderful portrait of Ornette, in his signature leather hat and colourful jacket, original, full bleed, digital print, from a publicity photograph, in very fine condition with no flaws to the glossy surface, verso bears the printing stamp, but is otherwise clean and unmarked; the large, bold, original signature in blue marker is fine without loss or fading. The autograph was acquired Nov 3, 2010, during Coleman's performance at Royce Hall, University of California, Los Angeles, as part of the Alive! Concert Series. Also included is a 4" by 6" unsigned, coloured photo of Coleman taken at the signing. For more than fifty years, Ornette Coleman (born 1930), has astonished, delighted and infuriated his audiences while creating some of the most daring and innovative music of our time. He is now rightly considered, with Armstrong and Parker, one of the great "architects" of jazz who has radically changed the way we listen to it. Still flourishing in his eighties, Coleman has only recently received some of the honours due him, among them, in 2007, a Pulitzer Prize for his recording Sound Grammar and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. A signed jazz collectible in fine condition and increasingly scarce, given Coleman's reputedly retiring and reticent nature and his now limited performance schedule. J1725
