Written over a twenty year period, edited from a original manuscript of a thousand pages, an extraordinary and harrowing self-portrait of the great jazz bassist and composer. Quarter bound in silver gilt cloth over black boards, hint of compression to spine ends, small mark to ffep, else, near fine, tight, unmarked, in a like dust jacket, price clipped with a touch of wear to spine ends, now in mylar sleeve. One of the most compelling and illuminating of all jazz memoirs which belongs in the same class as pianist, Hampton Hawes', 'Raise Up Off Me' and saxophonist Art Pepper's 'Straight Life'. J1822
