Betty Carter, Original Columbia Records, Recording Agreement, Typed Letter Signed, 1pp document on Columbia letterhead, dated April 2 1956, SIGNED By Betty Carter at the bottom right. This document exercises Columbia's option to extend Carter's original contract signed May 12 1955. Columbia had recorded the great jazz singer's debut album, Meet Betty Carter & Ray Bryant in 1955, which met with little commercial success and her subsequent recordings for Columbia with a band under altoist Gigi Gryce sat unreleased until 1980. TLS, 1pp, onion skin, about near fine, usual punch holes and staple perforation to top edge horizontal mail folds, mild edge creasing; the original autograph is about fine in blue ink, additionally signed by a Columbia executive. Scarce vintage jazz ephemera signed by a jazz great. J1927
