Jazz-The Chicago Scene, The Art Of Stephen Longstreet, University Of Chicago, Joseph Regenstein Library, October-November, 1989. Catalogue for an exhibition of 58 drawings, paintings and prints spanning five decades focusing on the Chicago jazz scene, SIGNED by Stephen Longstreet with his additional characteristic sketch of a turtle beneath the frontis. Art editor for sports magazines, radio dramatist, screen and TV script writer, ghost writer of Hoagy Carmichael's autobiography, author of over 100 books, ranging from novels to cook books under various pseudonyms - before and after finally adopting the nom de plume Stephen Longstreet, Chauncey Weiner, aka Henry or Henri Weiner, pursued a career which brings new meaning to the words diverse and prolific. But he will probably be best remembered as a gifted artist for his witty, animated and delightful drawings, painting and prints of jazz musicians and the jazz life. About fine in original pictorial, stapled wraps, 9" by 5.5", tight, clean, unmarked, a very uncommon signed catalogue by one of the best jazz artists. J1160
