Jimmy Davis, "Maxwell Street", Original Mono First Pressing, Electra EKL-303, N.Y.C., 1965, SIGNED on the front cover by Jimmy Davis, who has crudely printed "Davis"; Jimmy Davis (born Charles Thompson) was perhaps the most well-known of the Chicago street musicians who played the Maxwell Street market area for more than forty years. This first album by Maxwell would remain his only LP recording with the exception of the Wolf Records compilation of tracks recorded in 1988-89 and released in 1994, not long before his death in December 1995. The album cover is about near fine, seams are tight, top left corner is creased with light wear, touch of rubbing to front panel; the playing surfaces are visually very good+, with mild scuffing and hair lines; laid in is an original candid, 3" by 5" colour photograph of Jimmy taken in his later days, presumably by blues collector, Walter Glenn. A very uncommon album with scarce blues autograph, obtained in person by the late Walter Glenn, and part of his extensive blues collection. J2360
