Charlie Rouse, “Social Call”, Uptown Records, Original LP UP 27.18, 1984; characteristically SIGNED and inscribed by the great tenor saxophonist on the front panel, “ Best wishes, Charles Rouse, Newport,85”. Rouse is probably best-known for his long association with Thelonious Monk during which he made memorable contributions to some of Monk’s finest recordings. This album was one of Rouse’s last as a leader for Bob Sunenblick’s estimable Uptown Records, and featured a stellar cast of musicians: Red Rodney on trumpet, Cecil McBee, bass, Kenny Washington, drums, and the greatly gifted and sorely neglected pianist, Albert Dailey; Dailey died shortly after the recording was made and the album is dedicated to him. The album cover is near fine, seams are tight with touch of edge wear and rubbing to front panel, signature is fine without loss or fading; the vinyl is about near fine, appears to have been very light played with a nice luster. A jazz collectible with the uncommon signature of a jazz great. J1913
