Presentation copy, boldly SIGNED by the author to the ffep "Joe, With love, Bricky". A colouful, exuberant memoir by the legendary Bricktop (aka Ada Smith), singer, talent scout, intimate of the rich and infamous, proprietor of the most famous club in Paris during the 20's and 30's, Cole Porter penned Miss Otis Regrets for her, T.S. Eliot put her in a poem, Fitzgerald and Hemmingway wrote about her and hung in her bar...and so much more, all recounted with panache from the perspective of her eighty nine years. Quarter red cloth over marbled tan boards, spine ends are compressed, touch of wear to the tips, light abrasion to the ffep around tiny bookplate of p.o., text block is slightly dusty, else near fine, tight, unmarked; in an unclipped dust jacket about near fine, unclipped, mild shelf wear, light creasing and wear to spine ends and panel edges. Good stuff and very uncommon, the only signed copy we've seen. J1636
